I have a strong connection to the landscape of the Negev desert for this is where I began my career as a tour guide and an educator.I enjoy walking in the same paths that the nomads and perhaps even our forefathers the Israelites, walked ages ago through the desert. These paths also share the footprints of the Nabataean and the rich merchants from the East. Ruins of elaborate cities are buried deep in the sand dunes in this desert. One of the hidden pleasures of hiking in the NegevDesert is finding hidden springs with cold fresh water pools hidden in the deep canyons.
But best of all I love to climb a mountain and once I reach the summit just sit perfectly still for a few moments and listen to the “screaming silence” blend with the last open spaces of this beautiful country.
